AcornVac Trailer Shows the Benefits of Vacuum Plumbing
Lynn Vlasschert of Acorn Engineering Company has been traveling the Northeast showing this fully functioning Vacuum
Plumbing System to Specifying Engineers, Architects, Prison Officials and others in the Plumbing Industry. In a recent trip
to Maryland, S.E. Taylor & Associates showed this amazing system to three local Engineering Firms, one Architectural Firm
as well as the facilities personnel and Sheriff's Deputies from the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center. There was a lot of
interest from the attendants, all of whom were able to watch this system in action, and learn about the many benefits of
using a Vacuum Plumbing System in lieu of the standard gravity drainage system utilized in most buildings today.
Combined with water closets also from Acorn Engineering Company, this system is able to clear the bowl utilizing only .6
Gallons Per Flush. These water closets are quiet and everyone was impressed with the on-board video showing some
tests that were performed at the factory in City of Industry, CA. Such items as children's toys, shop rags and even full size
diapers were flushed into the system, and each was removed from the bowl and was carried back to the storage tank
without any main line clogs. With water conservation becoming more important, the advantages of this system cannot be
matched by standard drainage systems.
Another benefit is the architectural freedom given back to the owner and interior designers. Plumbing fixtures, entire
kitchens and bathrooms even, are able to be moved around the building as if they were furniture. This is possible since all
of the waste piping is located within the same level as the occupied space, multiple floor penetrations are not required.
This allows an incoming tenant complete freedom to renovate as they see fit, without limiting the plumbed rooms to a
